So, we didn't go to the banquet after all
Despite the $25 worth of meal tickets, we didn't go. We couldn't; we were involved in a fight at the time.
You know how that is? You're really embroiled in a fight, really going at it, and suddenly as you try to apply lipstick and scream at the same time you find yourself screaming "I'm not fucking going anywhere! No way in hell am I going to go smile at people when all I wanna do is rip your hair out!!" Yeah, it was kind of like that.
We were fighting about our *conflicting career goals.* Funny, huh? Anyone who's been paying attention to my life for the past 2 years since I met Tom knows I've slooooowed down my plans so that he and I could get in step time-wise. Because, I've been ready to go go go for a long time. Anywhere. Hell, even just an hour away to OKC, even. Get a real job, etc, anything something!! Saying the fight was about our conflicting career goals isn't *quite* accurate, turns out. We were fighting about What To Do Next if no fancy jobs come in for Tom. At this point, 95% of the fancy jobs are taken by others. There are still small, brown, dusty jobs, if you know what I mean, but What Then? If we move to another small, dusty, brown town like this one, what will I do? I don't think I can take it anymore.
Anyway, in brief, we got it all worked out and right about the time the skits probably began at the banquet we formulated Plan B for Life. And it's a good plan...but it's on a Need to Know basis... I'll tell you little bits of it as it begins to happen!
