Cindy says...
At first I was a little shocked, but now I think why not?!? You know you're only doing this for you (well, I'm sure Tom will have some appreciation for the new boobs). We don't care how small or big your boobs are. I think its cool. I've neer known anyone that's had a boob job before!
Well, that's why I thought I'd share it with you guys. I'm sure we've probably known a girl or two with breast implants, but they never talked about it! I thought, dangit, I'm going to talk about it! I like my face so much better since I had my nose-job (when I was 17) and I would do it again in a second. And I'm sure I'll like my body better after I have this done.
Lots of times I tell people that I had my nose done because I had it broken in a fight. The fight story that I tell is real...the broken nose is not. All these years, I've felt like I had to attach some *justification* to the surgery. As if "I wanted it" wasn't justification enough! I wanted it. I've never regretted my choice and my family was supportive and impressed with the results!
Obviously, I'm not addicted to plastic surgery if that's all I've had done in 11 years. But I believe that is a fear of some people--once you have one procedure, you get hooked, and next thing you know you're going to the doctor for this, and this, and this... Not me. That nose job HURT. A lot. I don't know how people like Cher do it over and over again, one right after the other. Soooo painful.
And there are certain types of cosmetic surgery that I wouldn't have. I believe I can honestly say that I wouldn't have liposuction. I know that that's not for me, no matter what were to happen to my body over the next few years. For one, I am completely grossed out by the mechanics of the procedure. Secondly, I don't think the results (especially around the hips) look natural. Yuck.
I wouldn't have skin resurfacing. Eeeyuch. That is NOT for me. I do not want someone burning off my face with a laser.
Braces...yes, one day, I may have braces once again. Those 5 years of hell when I was a child were no match for my wisdom teeth, which pushed everything out of line again. If my vampire teeth stay put, I'll leave them be. But if they keep scooting forward, children and Buffy fans will be afraid when I smile, and I really don't want that.
So, I'm talking about this, at least to you guys. The only women I know who have had implants and freely admit it or volunteer the information are over 50--and I do not feel comfortable calling up these moms-of-friends and grandmothers-of-friends and friends-of-mom to ask their opinions of things. That's too weird!!
BTW, Sara and Colin want before-and-afters of me, in a bathing suit. I'm still thinking about whether or not I'm going to take those pics or not...I detest my chest in a bathing suit. But, we'll see...maybe.
