Snow and Jobs

It snowed yesterday--big flakes for about 15 minutes. And that's a big fun snowfall here in west Georgia. I ran outside and I didn't miss a minute of it. I never thought that the biggest thing I'd miss about Oklahoma would be the snow. Oklahoma has perfect snow. It snows three or four times a season and only gets about 6 inches deep and I think that's perfect!

Tom is getting ready for MLA. He has job apps out and has interviews lined up, including one for a position here in our own department. I have to say, though, in some weird way I am hoping he'll get a spectacular offer at a school a little further north, so we'll get snow... I know that's crazy. Me? A Louisiana girl longing to move a little further north! Ha!

Speaking of Louisiana, it looks like Tom has exceptional chances at a position at a school about thirty minutes outside of Baton Rouge. I am so torn about that. On one hand, it would be so fun to move home, wouldn't it? And ever since my first day in Oklahoma, I said that was my goal. But sometime about three or four years ago, I changed my mind. I like living in a place with four seasons. Baton Rouge has two seasons: Summer and Cold-n-Rainy. Plus, I have so many memories there, and moving there again might, I don't know, DO something to them. The one completely good thing would be being close to my friend Rachel again. She's wonderful and smart and I'd love to have a closer friendship with her again. My other good Baton Rouge friends have either moved or died or become people that would be bad for me to be around.

I have to go--Tom made breakfast and he just called me... I think I may write more later. Bye!
