New house, new dog, new start!
Hello! Well maybe the new start part is an exaggeration, but finally after several days of hard grueling work Tom and I have moved into the new apartment and our new dogbaby is here too. His name is Stetson (which I'm not too crazy about but it IS his name for ten years now and I don't feel it's fair to change it) and he seems to be a good dog. He is experiencing periods of depression but that's to be expected as it is hard to move to a new place and get the gist of the routine. I can also tell that he is very anxious to fit in and please us--except yesterday he took off running with no leash and I swear, I think he still hits 45mph. He would not come back when called, but instead came back when he wanted to. I am afraid that he may never be safe off-leash; if no one has taught him by now (age 10) I'm not sure I can teach him. The whole old-dog-new-tricks thing, you know.
Deoji is happy to have a pal. There are moments of tension but for the most part I haven't seen the old dog smile this much in a long time. When Stetson settles in, I think he'll smile more too.
