Goose Jetty
Twice a day we take the dogs on a walk. It only totals something like thirty minutes of time a day and it makes the two of them so happy. Happy dogs are, well, happier and less likely to have accidents in the house.
Deoji is a goofball about it. He loves the lake that we walk down to. He'll tromp right out in the water, which may not sound too ridiculous but is because he is a greyhound and not any kind of water dog. In fact, he can't swim. I know that but I don't think he knows that. Greyhounds, because of their deep chests and lack of body fat, are terrible swimmers who can only go a few strokes before they begin to flounder and sink. It doesn't matter to him. I imagine him saying, in that George Clooney voice he uses in my dreams, "I was never really interested in running. It was my owners that pushed me into a career as a professional athelete. I always wanted to be a Retriever."
Stetson won't touch the water. I guess he knows he can't swim.
There is a tiny jetty into the lake that Tom and I call Goose Jetty because a pair of canada geese set up house there a few weeks ago. The mama goose has been sitting on her nest for so long, but two other goose mamas on the lake have already had their chicks hatch. I was so afraid that something was the matter with my goose's eggs but this morning I saw her with four little baby geese, floating around in the water by the jetty.
