Tagged for Years and Minutes
I'm tagged! Here goes.
10 Years Ago:
In October 1995 I was 20 years old. I was still legal to drink in Louisiana (they changed the drinking age to 21 from 18 in the late spring of 1996). Sara Champagne was my best girl friend (and still is, winky winky Ra) and we were completely inseperable. We'd spend 3 or 4 hours planning our outfits before we went out at night, and we were both trendsetters. It was around this time that I was wearing short cutoffs, pumas with no socks, wifebeaters with brightly colored bras hanging out, my hair in two cowgirl braids, and my keys around my neck on a shoestring. That may not sound too out-there now, but at that particular point in fashion time in Baton Rouge, it was a little unusual because the street-rat girls were still dressing like skater boys, or like rave girls, in hyyyuge clothes that obscured their bodies.
One night out on Chimes Street, I encountered another girl who was dressed EXACTLY like me. Right down to the color of her pumas. Sara had to hold me back from going to kick her ass. I was into ass-kicking at the time--or at least, threatening to ass-kick.
Sara, at the time, was rocking sort of a preppy "I just came from work" look. She wore lots of pointy dress shoes, expensive blazers, tweed. Everybody who didn't know us thought we were dating and that she was the 'man' in our relationship. Those who did know us knew that we weren't dating, although we did use that perception to our advantage. The mystery of it only increased our popularity. We were popular, envied, super-cool tramps that everybody knew and everybody loved. God, it was fun.
Apparently I was somehow passing my courses at the time but I don't remember anything about any of that.
5 Years Ago:
Hm. In October 2000, I was in Oklahoma working on my MA. I remember October 2000, I think. I think that was the Halloween that I dressed as Cruella DeVil and won a costume contest at a local bar. What caused me to win was the fact that I slipped and fell ass-first into a giant aluminum tub of dry ice. Don't worry, my thick dalmation coat prevented me from injury. However, my feet flew up in the air and my (probably red) underwear were on display for the whole bar.
Then, I kid you not, the Ghostbusters rescued me, surrounding me, taking my by the arms, and lifting me from the giant water bucket. How heroic! I owe you guys, Chris and Todd . And Clint, too. I guess the way I repaid my debt to him was by telling everybody about his personal ad with the skivvies and the trophies.
1 Year Ago:
October 2004. Hm. I can't remember. I guess I was just working, teaching college here in Georgia. I do remember that Tom and I went to the ballet for Halloween, and saw Dracula. It was cool. Life is so much more dull now that I'm grown up. I can't really complain, though. I am content.
Yesterday:
Got up, walked dogs, watched Daily Show from last night. Went to work, where I geeked out over Lost and taught some school. Came home. Walked the dogs. Talked to Sara as she searched for funnel cake near Penn Station. Vaccuumed and shampooed the carpets. Talked to hubby about stuff that matters. Snuggled dogs. Went to bed. Watched Family Guy. Went to sleep.
5 Snacks I Enjoy:
I can't seem to answer this. Right now, for some reason, I cannot think of a single thing on earth that I desire to eat.
5 Songs I Know All The Words To:
Again, a weird question. Like everyone else I know all the words to lots of songs. Right now I have Mariah Carey's Shake It Off stuck in my head.
5 Things I’d Do with 100 Million Dollars:
Pay off our debt. Pay off our house. Buy more efficient cars. Put a little in savings. Establish a foundation with the other $99 million and give it away, $100,000 at a time, to people who wrote convincing essays as to why they needed the money. The essays must be grammatically sound, with good punctuation. They must have coherent theses statements and topic sentences. Must be the quality of essay that we all dream our college freshmen would write and occasionally do. You get the idea. If the essay is coming from a disenfranchised family incapable of this sort of essay, prior to submimssion, said person should consult friends until they're positive the essay is great. Submissions must be in full-sized mailers with no pages folded. No paperclips. Include SASE.
5 Places I’d Run Away To:
Eh, I like it here.
5 Things I’d Never Wear:
For the past several years I have worn no leather, wool, silk, or fur. I will also never wear a g-string and pasties on stage. No matter how much money you offer me.
5 Favorite TV Shows:
Lost. I only allow myself one show a season to go ga-ga over.
5 Biggest Joys:
Tom, my doggies, my parents, my friends. And short car rides on clear days, looking at the scenery.
5 Favorite Toys:
The internet. My leaf blower. The remote control. Yahoo Launch. Magazines.
5 People You Tag With This Thing:
I'm not passing it on. I'm done!

Chris dressed up as a Ghostbuster? How cool is that!?
And you as Cruella DeVille--complete with red panties; no wonder you won! :)

I don't remember throwing my bra back there, but good lord do I hate bras, so it sounds like me. A few drinkies? Out comes the bra through the sleeve.
You *will* have to post a ghostbusters pic. And a pic of Chris as Plunger Man.

I'm not allowed to use the leaf blower due to my proclivity for injuring myself while using automated things. Please blog about your leaf blower experiences.

Thank you Tea, for everything always. You just made me honestly smile and laugh. I love you.
I am so lucky you were there with me during all the wacky times we loosely call "College". You were the best thing i got for my tuition
love
