Bluh
A pesky 503 error is forcing me to use a new, canned template. Not that mine was unique before, but it was a little customised. I have been keeping a boring blog lately. Oh well. Maybe later I'll write about my recent trip to the OKC bombing memorial.
Last week Tom's brother and longtime girlfriend came and stayed 4-5 days with us. I don't do well with houseguests but that doesn't mean I don't like Kelli and Steve! Well, poor Kelli had a stroke Friday night! Can you believe that? It sounds like it was fairly serious--and if you're familiar with strokes you kind of know the imairments that go along with them. She'll be okay--at least, she'll be okay after several months of physical therapy. A blood clot shook loose inside of her, floated up to her brain, and wreaked havok.
And Tom's Grandma died Saturday night. She had been ailing for a few months, but it is still always jarring when someone finally lets go and leaves. She was a really nice lady. I only met her a few times but she told me about her ten brothers and sisters and how her mother didn't allow them to fight with each other too much. I got the impression that her family had owned a restaurant on a hill with a small pond out back of it where all the kids would play--and where her cousin drowned. She talked about the ice truck supplying the restaurant, and how she and her siblings always had ice because of the restaurant and other kids rarely had ice, so it was a luxury.
I hope that's how the story goes, because that's how I like it. I like envisioning a little girl, 80 years ago, playing with her brothers and friends out by that pond, sucking on precious ice cubes.
I sure hope that next week passes without incident. I am so tired of incidents.
