Tearing off my fingernails
Lately, I've delved into the world of fake fingernails. They've changed a lot since I last tried them ten years ago. I was inspired by Britney Spears, who always has some glued on for public appearances, and then, through the paparazzi shots, we get to see her tear them off over the next few days.
So I gave in and bought a cheap set from CVS. Five bucks, french manicure style. I glued them on with no trouble and they looked great! Really great! I wore them for a few days, then popped them off, one by one, when the glue weakened.
So I've gone through a few sets.
Last night, I applied a set right before bed and awoke at 3:30 a.m. feeling as if my fingertips had been dipped in fire. I fretted over it a little, then went back to sleep, waking up periodically from pain. I knew that in the morning I'd have to go to the store and buy remover for these things.
So, this morning came, though, and there was no time for the store, and I knew it. So I stood there in the bathroom and tore these fake nails off. I'd apparently used too much glue and it had gotten onto my fingertips (slightly damaged from me working in the garden all day) and irritated the hell out of them. After the excruciating nail-tearing-off, and the washing of my poor fingertips in warm water, they began to feel better almost immediately. They're still a little ouchy but not too bad.
