Hey, hey, hey!
Well, here I am, all settled into my office and classes start tomorrow. I have a luxurious schedule of 11, 12 and 1 o'clock classes. Aaah. I do, however, have some office mates...one who seems alright, another who seems harmless, and another who I think may be an pig-headed bumpkin. Okay, I don't think so, I know so. But that is really all I can say about that. It's not good to talk too much on people you sit 15 feet from.
Georgia is weird. We've been invited to dinner by strangers several times since we moved here, but yesterday was the weirdest. Tom and I are in line at the grocery store, and this woman, about 60, suddenly comes up in between us and sticks her head down in our cart. Really. Then she says, "Boca Burgers! I've got a bunch of Boca Burgers at my house. Three of them." To which Tom and I reply, "Oh?" and shoot each other looks of panic. Long story short, this woman invited us over to her house to get these Boca Burgers, these $0.75 apiece Boca Burgers, and she was extremely insistent. She gave us directions to her house and told us we could follow her over there. She phoned her husband to let him know we were all on our way. It was tres' creepy. Tom and I got out in the parking lot to our car and we both just fucking panicked. We felt like we couldn't just drive away because she was expecting us and she knew that we were T and T who work at The U. I can just imagine that getting around. "T and T somebody who work at The U stood me up the other day. They were supposed to come over to my house and they just plain never showed up. And I was trying to give them Boca Burgers for free!!"
So we decided that we'd have to tell her that we couldn't come. And believe me, we had already tried that pretty freaking hard in the grocery store and it didn't work. So finally I was like, "Dammit! I'll do it!" while the bagboy was loading her car, but then I just knew that I would crumble. She'd say something and next thing I knew I'd crumble and we'd be not only picking up Bocas but joining her church or something. So I made poor Tom do it. He just leapt out of the car real quick and pretty much hollered at her that we couldn't make it. Then he jumped back in the car and we almost got in a wreck with a white truck on our way out of the parking lot we were so freaked out. It was really, thoroughly, freeeeky. Maybe it doesn't sound so, here on paper (screen), but it was.
In other news, I have lost 5 lbs. Yay! You wanna know how I did it? Well, my exercise regimen just didn't seem to be helping, so I kept the exercise but here is what I did in addition: I cut back on cheese and bread. That's all, just cut back, not cut out. Within three days I started losing a little weight. And whenever I eat much cheese, I weigh heavier in the morning than the morning prior!! It takes it a couple of days to go away again. Isn't that nuts?? Here is where I got the clue as to what to cut down on: Body Makeover's website. You've seen the infomercials. Well, instead of paying $160 for their program, just take a look at their site and do their free body diagnostic thingie. It'll give you some clues that might help you, too, to shed a few.
But those of you who know me know I cannot live without cheese. I just can't. So I broke down and tried the tofucheese that you see in the store and you always think: that stuff is probably nasty. Well, um. It's not. It's half the everything of real cheese (except the price, that's the same) and although it doesn't taste quite as good, it's definitely not bad and worth the tradeoff for the calories and fat and all. So maybe give it a shot?
Okay, I gotta go...blog more atcha soon!!
